I am Dreaming Of A White Christmas

White Christmas Tree that is. I am trying to get a little decorating done around here for Christmas. I have to do mine in stages anymore. I got my wreath up,reindeer out and the two trees by the door. Then I got to thinking of a white tree[I know it not the traditional color] I had seen it a few days earlier and it had stuck in my mind. So I started thinking of it and what colors I would decorate it with if I had any lights that would work etc.etc. Thursday I went to purchase the tree. Saturday night I finally found time to get it up and here is the results. Now this is my tree in my downstairs office a frilly ,girly tree just for me to enjoy. I'll do the traditional one later with all my red and green ornaments as old as I am . All the things that remind you of Christmas Past.Of course I did add a few forty year old ones on this tree.

My Grandson

Hayden came down for a visit Wednesday afternoon. While I was cooking dinner he was playing in the kitchen cabinet's . He took the pans out and decided to crawl inside .I got this picture. He also spent the night Friday night he is walking some now . I tried to get him in action . We had a good time it is nice to have a small one to snuggle with.

The Chickens Are Back

Well vacation is over time for work again. We have been busy for the past few days getting ready for the arrival of new baby chicks. We now have all of them back on the farm except for one house. They will arrive Thursday morning. That's about 230,000 chickens now. On Thanksgiving I was looking through some pictures and found the one I had made of the girls with baby chicks. The day was cool and windy. We were pretty busy all day. Matthew and I did have an adventure we were driving around to the back of the chicken house and got stuck yes we had rain and it was muddy and slippery. He had backed up to the bank and was almost in a huge gully. We got out and looked he told me to set on the tailgate and he would try again to get out . Well he put the pedal to the metal[ and with my small amount of extra weight] out we came.

Thanksgiving 2007

Another Thanksgiving has come and gone. I think we all ate too much as usual. We had company in this year my sister Lesa and her husband Dewayne and the girls Bridget and Tessa. We had a good time talking and eating and of course playing with the girls. I hadn't seen them in a while so it was good to have them. The girls were actually arguing over me they each wanted me to themselves. Now that was nice. Matthew and Hayden came by for a few minutes and I got a picture. All in all it was a nice day to spend time with family and reflect upon what we are thankful for. My list is long God first, family and church family. My health and job and being able to do my job. We never know what life holds in store for us we should enjoy each day God has given us because it is a gift from him.We missed Miranda and Dave but glad we got to go visit them just last week . we are not eating many left overs this year as we ate most everything. Which is good. I hate to eat turkey for 3 or 4 days. That is another thing to be thankful for .

The Shoes

I recently had a Doctor's visit and while I was sitting there waiting to be seen a sales girl came in she was also waiting to show her drugs and such to the Dr. I noticed the shoes she had on and though those are so cute[I never used to be so crazy about shoes it was my daughter]. I commented on how I liked them and she told me that she purchased them in Rome and how to find the store. On Friday I just didn't want to work or be in the house. I always miss Miranda more so when I have been out for a visit when I first get home. I thought of the shoes so decided to go look the store up. It's called Becky's shoes and they sell all brand names. I searched Alie after Alie looking just for these shoes at last I found one pair in my size. They are Kenneth Cole's and i got them for 18 bucks. I was so happy. I did get to thinking later after i got home was I coveting the shoes. I think I might better be careful in the furture. I sure do like them though.

A Ride In The Country

On Saturday we decided to take a ride in the country to see if any fall color was still around. We saw some beautiful trees on 136 over to Summerville. We then rode on up to Mentone Ala. We had been here once before several years ago. I love to browse through Antique Shops. There are a couple of them along with other shops in Mentone. One is located beside The Mentone Springs Hotel which houses a restaurant also. The Antique shop is part of the old hotel and has several rooms with rooms upstairs . On this visit I learned that it also has a couple of Ghosts or so the woman working said. There was a lady there she was talking with and she asked if they had any ghosts and she asked"why" ? The lady said she and her daughter had been upstairs and got a very bad feeling in one of the rooms and could sense some one's presence. Then the Lady working there said that a women had been murdered in one of the rooms upstairs and that they did have a lot of people reporting seeing things and feeling their presence. She said she knew of two ghosts there. I saved that room for last in case I got scared. I never felt anything but did keep thinking of it.I would love to take Norma, Martha and Lesa back for a visit.

Trip To Texas

Gary and I recently went to Texas to visit our children Miranda and Dave. Gary's Mom went with us this time. His Dad recently passed away. I think the trip was good for her she seemed to enjoy herself. She hadn't traveled much in her life.We stopped at the Mississippi River and I made this picture of the two of them. The beautiful old building was in downtown Dallas a former court house. It now houses a museum. It is named the Red Museum. We had a nice visit and did some sight seeing and of course shopping. We look forward to our next visit.

John & PEGGY'S 40th Anniversary

My brother John and his wife peggy celebrated fourty years of marriage recently on November 4th. Their daughter Tina hosted the affair. John is oldest of my siblings. I remember their wedding well. It was at Sunlight Baptist Church close to where Peggy lived and attended church. It was on a Saturday evening. On our way home I was riding with my brother Jerry and his wife Christa we had a flat tire and had to stop and change it, It was cold and he wasn't feeeling well. After we got home he continued to feel worse and had to go to the emergecy room and was adimitted and had his appendicits removed that night. The years have been good to John and Peggy they have aged well. The other photo is tina and her husband Ryan and her two sons. We all had a good time sharing memories together.

Kitchen Sinks

The kitchen sink seems to be a favorite place for me. It brings fond memories of when my children was small . My Mama used to give the kids baths there if the need arose. It works good for me with Hayden also. I did try the bath tub but he proved to be more that I could handle. You can tell from the photo he is enjoying it.

10 Months

Here is Hayden at ten months. He is crawling and pulling up now so he is checking everything out. He is hard to keep up with but he certainly is enjoying his freedom.

Hayden Turns Nine monthsThat Is

Hayden was nine months old July 10Th. His Aunt Miranda came for a visit and I think they got to know each other pretty good. He also got to spend his first night with me while his Mama and Daddy took a couple of days vacation. He is growing so fast.

Time

I can't believe it has been so long since I posted anything. Time has a way of passing to fast for me. I have heard it said that this happens as we age. My days have been busy with just daily routines. We did make a trip to Texas last weekend for Miranda's graduation she received her Master's degree. We had to make a short trip but we would not have missed it. We are very proud of our daughter and all she has accomplished.

I was thinking of Mama on Mother's day and meant to wright something then .My Mama was so very special to me I loved her dearly as I am sure all of my siblings did. She was always there for us and made sure we had what we needed. I know she went with out things so we could have more.

The things I remember most was her being there for me. I know we didn't always see eye to eye on things but for the most part we did. When you grow up and have children of your own you really appreciate and understand why your parents corrected you and tried to lead you in the right way.

Being a parent is the toughest job I have ever done. I know I made mistakes along the way and probably would again. Family is just the most important thing to me.

My Mama went home to be with the Lord twenty three years ago today .It seems such a long time since I have seen or heard from her. On the other hand she is still with me and always will be she lives in my heart the love she gave me lives on , the things I learned from her. I can just close my eyes and see her and at times when I am troubled I can feel her near. I thank God for the mama he gave me and the time we had together even though I don't know why she had to leave us at the age of fifty nine I have to trust God and know that He knows what is best for each of us.I am attaching a photo of Mama working in the yard her favorite place to be .Also one taken on Mother's day I think . Mama was my best friend as I grew older and had a family of my own . A day never passed that we didn't talk with each other. There is one thing that happened the first year after Mama died. She had flower beds around the yard there was one out in the back that had different flowers in it. My sister Martha and I were walking around looking at different ones in the yard and talking about Mama and how we missed her and how she loved her flowers. We noticed this rose bush in the bed that had not been there before it had small white roses we made the comment that maybe it was a sign from Mama not to be sad that she still was near us. Well it bugged us that we didn't know where it came from or what kind of rose it was we started checking and found it in a book it was a Fairy Rose. It bloomed that first spring and never was seen again so I feel it was from God reassuring us Mama was okay.

Happy Birthday Lesa

Happy Birthday to my sister Lesa. I want say how old you are just that your like me just getting better. I hope you have a great day. I wish I could be there to celebrate with you. I know your girls will be happy to party with you they are such social lites. I wanted to post a picture of you and me . Of course when I went looking through pictures I couldn't find many. Did we never have our picture made together? I did find the Christmas one you must have been around four. The Baby one is when you were fifteen months, then eight years.

You were always such a sweet little sister. I know we all spoiled you since we were older. I want you to know you are still special to me and I love you very much.

Now remember me on your birthday since I'll be doing the church yard and bake sale this weekend. We will celebrate later it seems to be a rare thing if we ever get together on the actual birthday but we always have fun when ever we get together. Enjoy your day I'll be thinking of you.

Austin Turns One

Our nephew Austin celebrated his first birthday with a party on April the seventh. You can tell from the picture that he was enjoying the cake .I think all the family had a good time just watching him . Hayden seemed to enjoy the party also before you know it he will be turning one he is growing so fast. It was a good family time day
something we don't do enough of.

Hayden And The Swing

Hayden came and spent the day with us . It was cloudy and a few drizzles of rain. We did manage to get out side for a while and take a stroller ride.
My sister Lesa gave me a baby swing seat that Bridget and Tessa had out grown to add to my swing set for Hayden.I put him in it today to see if he would like it. I think you can tell from his beautiful smile that he loved it. He was having such a good time when his Daddy came to get him. Oh well there is always the next time-------

My Grandson

I am writing to talk more about Hayden. I have had this sinus cold for over a week now so naturally I was afraid to get around Hayden.Saturday Cindy and Matthew brought him down for a visit. He is growing so much twenty pounds now. He has two top teeth coming in now so he really will be biting stuff now. He just checks everything out all over the house. He reaches and grabs at everything in sight. I made this picture while he was on the sofa with Grandaddy. He was standing up and reaching for my flower arrangement behind the sofa. He got one a hold of one flower and gave a pull and out it came. Of course Granny took it away. I had missed him so much so it was a nice visit .He usually comes a day or two during the week.

The girls

I have been kinda under the weather for the past two days so since I don't feel like doing anything I am trying to play catch up . This past weekend the girls Bridget and Tessa finally got to come for the weekend. It seems like every time they were to come one of them would get sick. Maybe it was me this time, no I didn't get sick until Monday. Gary and I went and got them on Friday afternoon and they stayed until Sunday afternoon.
We had a good time they are so full of energy and life it makes you feel good just listening to them and watching them play. They have grown so since Lesa adopted them two years ago. I know they have brought a lot of changes in her life as well as a lot of love. I know I feel the same I could not love them any more if they were born to her .
We went to the play ground on Saturday afternoon and let them play of course I forgot my camera. We told them we would go out to eat Saturday night their choice. Mac Donald's where all kids want to go since they have a play ground. They had fun and ate some. On Sunday morning we all went to Sunday School and church services. It is always nice to have them with us it reminds me of when my children were small and at home with me. It was a good visit all in all and I look forward to the next one. It is fun being a surrogate granny since our Mom is no longer with us and Dewayne's parents live in Illinois. Hopefully I make a good fill in. I took the photo of them before we left for church in their dresses I had gotten them.

Happy Birthday To My Best Friend Norma

I want to extend a belated birthday greeting to my best friend Norma. We have been close through the years. We are always there for each other bad times and good.
Not everyone has a special friend like this. I hope she knows how thankful I am that she is a part of my life.
Did I mention that she is also my first cousin we have been friends since childhood.I am the older one by two years. When we are out together people ask if we are sisters I guess I have always thought of her as my sister.
We used to get to spend at least one week together in the summer as we were growing up. Our favorite late movie was "The Long Hot Summer" staring Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward. It was strange because we never had the same week in the summer together but the movie would come on. We have been known to watch it in our later years and wonder how we got away with watching it then. It was kinda racy for back then.
We still enjoy each other's company . Norma is always there to listen to me when I need a ear.I could never have a better friend. It has been a while since we have been on one of our trips just to get away I hope we can do it soon.I am attaching a photo of her at the Biltmore House which was taken a few years back . We actually let our husbands go on this trip.Happy Birthday dear friend. April fourteen remember we are only getting better!

My Trees

Recently Georgia Power had tree trimmers in the area cutting back from the power lines. Well when we built our house it was in a field no trees in site. So we planted trees after nineteen years we have shade. So of course they came knocking at my door telling me they would have to trim my silver maples. Now I didn't have money to buy trees with so I had walked way over the hill side to dig these trees up sixteen years ago.
They had gotten so pretty the man said" I can tell they have never been trimmed, but we have to do our job ". I told him it took me a long time to get them that size he assured me he wouldn't take off any more than he had too. What can you say? I really dreaded looking at them when they finished they aren't as bad as I thought they would be. I told myself I would only look at them from the yard not the road.Oh well I guess we have to have electricity or do we?

A Visit to Miranda's and David's

We recently got to go to Texas and visit the children. It was a nice visit too short for me , but then it always is. We had a good time visiting the Dallas -Fort Worth stockyards, riding through the country, shopping and just being lazy.

It is so nice of them to have us I know they are very busy with work and Miranda has college classes she is trying to finish . We appreciate the time they take for us.

On the day we were to leave bright and early around four A.M. we awoke to a flat tire on the car.I told Gary let's go back to bed and wait till things open so we can get it fixed. Being a man on a mission he wasn't about to do that. I heard him out in the garage and checked to see what was going on he was looking for an air tank or compressor. I am thinking surely he isn't going to air that tire up and ride on it. That didn't happen because David didn't have a tire chuck thank goodness.

By this time Miranda has gotten up David had only been in bed a couple of hours since he had to stay up working late on a couple of last minute projects. I am thinking the whole neighbor hood will be awake. Gary proceeds by changing the tire to the spare donut tire. I am wondering okay how safe is this he assures me it will be fine till we can get it fixed. While we are doing this I look up and some one goes jogging by down the street so maybe we aren't awaking everyone after all.

We left and made it safe to Marshall ,Texas by eight A.M. exit off find a Toyota dealer ship and get the tire fixed. We proceed on the trip and arrive at home around ten thirty that night so needless to say I was tired.

In closing it was worth the ride to spend time with them I just hope they feel the same.

Happy Anniversary Dewayne & Lesa

Well I know it has been a while since I posted so I have a lot of catching up to do. I would like to say a happy belated anniversary to my sister Lesa and Dewayne on their fifteen years together. I didn't forget you and hope the day was good for you. It really doesn't seem like you have been married that long. Lesa was such a beautiful bride. I am glad I had a part in helping you with the wedding. It was a good day to remember.

Happy Birthday Matthew

Today is my son Matthew's birthday. I can't believe he is 29 years old. The years have went by fast for me. When I think back it seems like only days ago when I brought him home . He was always a very active baby and child. He was crawling at 6 months and walking at 9 months. As a child he was always taking things apart to see how they worked. He was very good in school making good grades without much effort. He still uses his head to come up with ways to make things easier to do and manage. He works for us on the farm now.It has been good having him to help with the work plus it gives he and his Daddy time together.
He has a son of his own now and I can tell he loves him very much and is proud of him already.
Children are truly a blessing from God,a special gift he gives us for a time until they spread their wings and go in their own directions. Then you just have to trust God to take care of them and sit back and watch and be there for them.I hope his son brings him as much joy as my children have brought to me. I can't imagine my life without them. Both of my children are special to me and I hope they know how much I love them.I am very thankful to have them .
I am attaching a picture of Matthew at one and four with his sister Miranda . The cakes were done by me this was when I was into the Wilton cake decorating. I am sure the family got tired of my cakes I was always cooking one. Cindy his wife is cooking him a Mississippi Mud cake this year.
I didn't get his picture today we were all busy getting the chickens ready to sell. The catchers will be here at 1am to start the process and by midnight Wednesday they will all be gone. I think we are all ready for a few days break.

Sunday's

Well I haven't posted in a few days. Life on the farm has been busy. We only have a few days left before they sell. I am on the count down as usual. Nothing much happened around here this weekend.I was disappointed when Tessa and Bridget didn't get to come for the weekend. I hope Tessa is feeling better and we can try again soon. I was looking forward to our visit . Hayden did come yesterday and spent the day. He is growing so fast and learning so much. I cannot get over how he drinks from a glass. We went for stroller rides, sat on the porch and rocked just a fun day. Now I have someone to set on the porch with me.

Sunday's are always out of routine around here. We get up at five in order to work our chickens so we can be at church on time. We had a great service today and unusual also you could just feel the presence of the Lord. Scott was doing our announcements and talking about the march against drugs in the county. Our Pastor had some input so he stood up to talk about it. This woman just came in and went straight to him and said she needed prayer so we immediately stopped what we were doing and all gathered in the altar for prayer . You could feel God's spirit so strong. After we finished she thanked us and left. We continued on just having service as usual. After we had dismissed . We were standing around talking and the woman came back and told our pastor that God had saved her earlier when she prayed and that she would be back. We only got her first name and that she lived close by. I don't know what her problem was only God does He sent her our way and I think we were obedient to His word. As I look back on the service I can see God's thread He weaves. The talk about drugs and how one in every ten in North Georgia is on some kind of drugs. The sermon was on come who will and how God will forgive you no matter what you have done if only you will ask Him. The song Kimberly sang about Jesus dying upon the cross for us such love for us that He would give His life for us. How awesome!!!

Now girls I wasn't intending to make you get teary eyed about Ma. I was just thinking about her and how much she meant to me and how we take things for granted that the ones we love will always be there. When we lose them to death we still have our memories to hold with us. The memories are good for us. I remember the doughnuts also . Ma always had something for me when I went to take her to town or do something for her. I really miss not having her and Mama to take shopping and help them now guess who is crying . I guess I'll say it has been a good day and end here.

Maw Williams

Well according to the calendar spring is officially here. I must agree with the temperatures we have been having. I also saw my first butterfly today a white one . I always think of people I no longer have in the spring. My Maw Williams is one that comes to mind today. She went home to be with the Lord March 14, 1994. She was a wonderful grandmother to me. She taught me a lot of things in life. Her and pa lived next to us when I was growing up so my brothers , sisters and I were fortunate to have grandparents close by. I was always going to their house , eating with them and helping them do things. On Christmas morning I always had to go see them and tell what Santa had brought.I had to help with the canning of garden veggies. I enjoyed chopping the cabbage to make sour kraut. I guess when you are a child work doesn't seem like work. We never got to go many places as I was growing up. Mama would let me go with Maw and Pa though. We would visit all the church home comings in the summer time and see relatives and friends that you saw only once a year. My favorite place to go with them was to my Aunt Jody's then I could see my best friend in all the world my cousin Norma. It was so much fun to get to play together we have remained best friends trough the years. We have never got to live too close together we are about an hour away now.

I always had fun helping Maw decorate for Christmas not store bought no money for that. We made everything pine boughs to trim around the windows. It was so much fun to go to the woods and look for just the right cedar tree to decorate. I remember making popcorn balls . It was just good times and thinking back I can still feel the love I was shown. I miss her still today and always will . I have my memories that will keep her alive for me. I am attaching a photo that was made In 1984 the year my Mom went home to be with the Lord. We had a family Reunion that fall.

Farm Life

Well today was a typical day of the farm. It was a nice spring day . We did our usual of taking care of the chickens they are almost ready to ship out . Then we will have a break hopefully we will get to go see our daughter and son- in-law[we are proud to have him as part of our family] in Texas. My eye exam went okay yesterday and everything looked fine there. Any good reports I get from Dr.'s I am thankful for. Hopefully my diabetes won't affected my eyes.

Hayden came down for a visit this afternoon so I took him for a ride in the stroller I bought Saturday at a resale place for eight dollars . I did have to put some muscle in scrubbing it up but it looks as good as new now. I bought him a new one for home this is for just when he comes to my house. He enjoyed riding around the yard of course he was more interested in petting Rebel his daddy's dog who was also visiting as he does a lot.

Now that Hayden can turn over he goes at it. I made a pallet for him and he would flip over he hasn't figured out how to get back on his back . I am sure it won't be long though. He is growing too fast.

The Chameleon

There is one sure way I can tell that spring is here. That is when I see my first chameleon. I have one who has come out of hibernation. I love the way they change their colors and each summer I watch the new babies that are born. They stay on my back porch the most . Although I do see them on the front porch also.

My interest was stirred this week after seeing my little friend so I went checking in the world book. The real name for him is Anole [pronounced uh NOH lee] it is closely related to the chameleon. There are more than 225 species of anoles, and they live in South America, Central America, and the southeastern United States. Anoles are often called American chameleons.

I keep my coat I wear to the chicken house hanging on the back porch and more than once last year I would get it on and feel something crawling on me and sure enough it was my chameleon or should I say anole. They get in my sunroom sometimes and I have to catch them and put back outside. Their feet grasp like hands rather than cling with sharp claws,as do those of most other lizards. They also have sticky footpads that enable them to cling to leaves and branches.

The males have a colorful throat flap called a dewlap. They display the dewlap when defending their feeding territory or to attract females during mating season. I have seen this done it blows up like a balloon and is red in color . Hopefully before the summer is over I can get a picture of this.

Hayden

Hayden came to spend the afternoon with me today. He is teething so he doesn't feel the best in the world. He still manages to smile a lot and play. He is so cute of course I am prejudice. When he smiles it just brightens your day no matter how tired you are. He has been a joy to us . He does seem to be fond of the men in his life though. When his grandpa comes in the room if he is fussing he stops and starts laughing. Late today we discovered his first tooth is barely thorough the skin but you can see it. How exciting!!!
March 10th Hayden turned 5 months I am attaching a photo. He turned over for the first time that day.

The Quilt

Today I am writing about a project that I have finished. It was started several months ago for my first grandchild as soon as I found out the baby was to be a boy I ran out and got material to make him a quilt. Well I did start the project , but work on it progressed very slow. My dear little grandson was born October 10, 2006 still no finished quilt. I was certain I would have it done by Christmas a gift for him maybe that didn't happen either. After a new year dawned I made my list of projects to finish and get started on for the year the quilt was at the top of my list. I still hadn't gotten to it when my sister Martha and nieces Jennifer and Stephanie wanted to make a trip in January to my daughter's home in Dallas, Texas. While we were on our visit she took us to visit the ranch where Dallas was filmed back in the eighties one of my favorite soaps. It was the first one to air at night I was glued to the house and TV come Friday night at 9pm. I would never have dreamed in a million years that some day I would get to see this house for real. It was just awesome to tour it and listen to the stories the guide had to offer. We had a great visit and when I got home I had renewed interest in the Dallas series again. I bought the first two years on DVD and watched them at night some times two at a time so my 29 episodes went by fast. The quilt was still laying here unfinished I remembered that Dallas came on in the afternoons on the soap net channel two episodes a day now how could I justify watching tv in the afternoon. I am always busy with something that needs doing. I came up with the perfect solution sew on the quilt while I watched Dallas so that's what I did. I have finished the quilt so I don't know what I'll do to watch tv in the afternoon . I'll probably have to tape it and watch it at night I need to buy more DVDs. Now that it is finished I am wondering since Hayden is five months and it is getting warm weather how much he will use it. It can be used on a youth bed since it not too small. Maybe I'll just keep it at my house for him to use when he is here. I am attaching a photo of it.

Egg In The Hole

Well my day got off to a good start. As I was trying to find something for breakfast since I was all out of oatmeal. I remembered a egg in the hole Kirk showed me how to make this when us girls let him come along on our trip to Indian Rocks Beach near Clearwater. All you do is take a piece of loaf bread and tear a hole in the middle get your frying pan hot with butter then , put in the bread and break an egg and pour in the hole and cook till done flipping once it is very good with applesauce on top. It brought back good memories of our trip and the fun we had. I Didn't get to go to the beach last year I was busy in a garden . I know the food produced was and has been good but it was a lot of work.

Today turned out to be different from what I had planned, but as Forest Gump said"life is like a box of chocolates you never know what you will get " or something like that. I had planned on actually going to town and buy some groceries today, but my husband came up with a on the side job of selling some of his excess chicken litter so I had to stay and keep check on our chickens . So I mostly just played catch up on ironing, and finishing a project log over due more on that tomorrow.

I am trying to adjust to the time change and as usual I am all out of routine. I enjoy it once I get myself in tune with the change. It was very warm and nice today again after winter spring is one of my favorites seasons.

I am attaching a photo of my niece Jennifer and her husband Kirk. Also you will see my breakfast meal. I am wondering what my daughter will think of my blog once I let her know I have started it. I can see her now proof reading and correcting my english and spelling. You see she is a english teacher among other job titles she holds. I love her dearly and I am very proud of all she has accomplished in life. She lives in Texas, but a part of her remains in Georgia with me.

March 13th fourteenyears ago.

Well here goes I keep reading all of your blogs so I thought why not . I am sure I want have much to write about but you never know. Today was a beautiful day in my neck of the woods a far cry from the blizzard that hit us 14 years ago today. It has been called the storm of the century. It really doesn't seem like it has been that long ,But I guess time flies when you are having fun. I remember because we live on a chicken farm at the time we had 3 houses of two week old chickens. After the snow hit one went crashing to the ground and another one was damaged. Since it was a post type house it didn't fall completely in .We had to crawl around on our knees and try and save as many as we could by taking them to one of the other houses. The snow was so deep it was over my knees so I could not get around too good. Our son Matthew helped us he was 15 at the time. Our daughter Miranda helped out also by keeping food fixed for us. We were without power for several days no generator at that time either. Our neighbors L.D. and Maudie had a small generator so they would water their chickens then let us borrow it to water ours. WE had to go in and just put out what feed we could by hand. The snow was was beautiful but a lot of hard work resulted from it.After the power got back on and it got where you could get out to town the process of cleaning up took place. Gary took a week off work to try and get it done we all pitched in and worked till we couldn't then we would call it a day. We had two more built back and life carried on. With God's help you can do anything. He has been so good to me through the years and carried me through many tough times.I naturally didn't have any film for my camera at this time so no pictures were made only in my mind. Several years after the fact I saw a documentary on it on PBS it was very interesting to watch since we had no phones or electricity we didn't have a clue what was going on.
